Saint Basil's Day

Today is Saint Basil’s Day. Born into a family of Saints, St Basil the great earned his own title due to his compassion, theology and faith during the 4th century. Not only is he patron Saint of Cappadocia, he is also important to hospitals, educators and monks due to his charitable endeavours from building the first hospitals and orphanages to founding monasteries and organising famine relief. He is often depicted with a book or scroll to mirror his high-level of education and shaping church doctrine.
